A Winters Slump ~ Red Hot GIVE AWAY!

I am in a winters slump!

Yes I said SLUMP!

Don't you think slump is a funny word? It struck me as sounding so funny I wondered if it really was a word, so I went to the old Funk & Wagnals...actually it was dictionary.com...and looked it up. Indeed it is! I knew it was but I get this way sometimes, like when I am in a slump! Am I the only one? Surely not...

To help my mood I have decided to give something away...

RED, HOT!

8 x 10 ~ 300lb cp

Here is how it will work...

Leave a comment on my blog about how you "get out" of a slump when you have one...then post on your blog about the give away including a link to my blog. You will be entered in a drawing to win this painting. One entry for commenting and one for including a link back on your blog...be creative!

    Oh.
    Sorry.

How I get out of a slump, by Linda.
Yeah. That's a good one. I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I HAVE learned to quit worrying about it, because I eventually will get back to what I am supposed to be doing when I'm supposed to be doing it. A friend of mine once said that a field is most fertile after it has lain fallow for a while -- and I think that's very true.

    Does that count?
    :-) I LOVE THIS PAINTING!!!!!

  2. Thanks Linda!

I should be MOST fertile...in the creative sense of course...and yes this does count!

  3. Hmmm. A slump...

I have a hard time not slipping into a slump in winter, but when i do, I tend to do something completely different than what I'm struggling with - I knit, or read, or write or clean my studio...eventually, the desire to create returns and I find my way out of the creative hole!

(Gorgeous painting, by the way! So warm and welcoming!)

  4. First, I give in completely to the slump. The more I fight it, the more it consumes me. Then I shut down, stop talking to my poor family, retire to my bedroom as soon as I can after dinner, lock myself in the room with trash TV like "The Real Housewives of Atlanta", eat crawfish etouffee, Doritos, and chocolate, cry a little, rage a little, drink a lot of red wine, and give myself permission to wallow like a pig in my own misery for as long as I need to. Works like a charm!

  5. Oooh, that warms me up just looking at it!

How do I get out of a slump? I try to work through it and if that doesn't work I try to cut myself a break. If I keep putting pressure on myself to draw or paint, I want to do it even less. So maybe I read or crochet or cook something.

  7. I haven't posted on my blog in a long time, but I will go for one chance with my comment. A great way to get out of a slump (I just realized I'm in a blogging and painting slump!) is to eat a chili for sure! Lots of happy music is another great mood lifter. May your slump slide away soon. (mine too, perhaps by winning)

    :)

  8. How to get out of a slump? Go out to the barn and spend a couple of hours with the horses. While this may not end my slump, this seems to take time, it certainly makes me feel much better.

    I love this painting!!!!

  9. I can usually cure the slump with music. Current favorite is the Weepies. Humor also helps. Watching a movie that makes me laugh, hang out with funny friends, read comics...the harder I laugh the more refreshed I feel. I have a funny family so this is not difficult for me.If I am in a creative slump, I have an artist's date - looking at art in real life or on the computer, going to the bookstore, more music...HTH!
